Everything started with a seed and a dream…….

Born from a love of the land, and a desire to cultivate and share the beauty of flowers, The Meadow Patch started life in September 2020 amidst the chaos, confusion and grief of a global pandemic.

What started as a few hand-dug flower beds, has quite literally blossomed into a 1/4 of an acre of ever-changing floral bounty and a business that supplies flowers to customers across the region, as well as creating wild and naturalistic wedding florals, and heartfelt sympathy work.

Family ties….

These 3 acres of Suffolk soil hold a special place in the hearts and history of our family. Once used as allotments, the meadow belonged to the family who fostered Frederick Uff (Julian’s father), and it was here that he learned how to tend the land and grow vegetables. Fast forward 70 years, and the meadow was bought by Julian, and since then has seen the family expand to include three children, numerous chickens, guinea pigs, many camping parties with dear friends and family, and now a flourishing cut-flower business.

Regenerative farming practices, nurturing soil and soul……

From the outset it seemed only right that our growing practices should reflect our feelings of gratitude and respect for the land which holds so much of our family history. As a result, we have tried to adopt a gentle approach to our cultivating; using no-till practices in our beds after initial ploughing, and striving for balance and harmony with the flora and fauna who share our environment. We employ no chemicals in our propagation, and are seeking to increase our knowledge of renegenerative farming practices in order to further increase our sustainability and optimise the health of our soil.

These ethical considerations thread throughout all aspects of our business, from our fully compostable packaging, through to our entirely foam-free and sustainable floristry techniques.

We are passionate about our flowers, our land, our customers and our community - and we are determined our business will bring nothing but positivity.

Flowers should not cost the earth…….
